Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 15–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Lean, well-drained soil produces the best, most compact growth.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Deadhead or shear back after the first flush of clear blue flowers to encourage a strong second bloom in late summer. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. The clear, true-blue flower spikes are long-lasting and excellent for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. One of the most reliably blue-flowered salvias available.
