April Night Meadow Sage

Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained to dry soil, spacing 18–24 inches apart. April Night is a salvia with deep, dark indigo-blue flower spikes that are exceptionally richly colored — among the deepest blues in the perennial salvia family. It thrives in lean to average conditions — avoid rich or wet soils. No special soil preparation needed. Water moderately after planting.

Cut back by about one-half after the first bloom flush to encourage a vigorous second bloom and maintain compact growth. Very drought tolerant once established. No fertilizing needed. The deep indigo flower color makes April Night one of the most richly colored salvias available — outstanding for creating strong, cool blue accents in the summer garden. Highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
