Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Excellent drainage is essential.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Cut back dead stems in early spring before new growth emerges. Divide every 3–4 years in spring when clumps become crowded. No fertilization needed in lean soil. Largely pest-free. The deep burgundy-red foliage contrasts beautifully with the warm, rosy flower heads in late summer. The seed heads persist attractively through winter, providing extended ornamental interest and food for birds.
