Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in well-drained to dry soil, spacing 12–18 inches apart. October Daphne is a compact, spreading sedum with attractive, blue-green, succulent foliage and rosy-pink flowers in fall. It requires excellent drainage — wet soils cause rot. No soil amendment is needed. Water sparingly after planting and reduce further as the plant establishes its drought tolerance.

Care Tips

Cut back lightly in early spring to remove any winter-damaged portions. Once established, October Daphne needs almost no care. Extremely drought tolerant. No fertilizing is needed. The interesting succulent foliage provides all-season interest and the rosy-pink fall flowers coincide with the season's other autumn colors beautifully. An excellent, low-maintenance perennial for hot, dry sunny borders, rock gardens, and slopes.
