Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained soil, spacing 18–24 inches apart. First Love is a spike speedwell with soft, rose-pink flower spikes that bloom in early summer. It adapts to average garden conditions without special preparation. Water regularly for the first few weeks after planting, then reduce as the plant becomes established. Good drainage is more important than soil richness.

Care Tips

Cut back flower spikes after the first bloom to encourage a second flush of flowers and maintain a tidy, compact habit. Divide every three to four years in early spring to maintain vigor. No heavy fertilizing is needed. The soft pink color is a lovely complement to blue and purple companions in early summer borders. Attractive to bees and butterflies.
