Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained to wet soil, spacing 4–5 feet apart. Bailey Compact is a dwarf American cranberrybush viburnum — more compact than the standard species but with the same white spring flowers, red fall berries, and outstanding fall foliage. It adapts to wet soils and a range of conditions. Dig the planting hole to the depth of the root ball and water well.

Care Tips

Minimal pruning is needed. Remove dead wood in early spring. Keep soil consistently moist. The white spring flowers, brilliant red fall berries, and outstanding scarlet fall foliage make this a four-season native shrub of exceptional value. The berries provide important winter food for birds. No regular fertilizing is needed. An excellent compact native viburnum for smaller gardens and moist sites.
