Stand by Me Bush Clematis

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to keep the root zone cool. Unlike vining clematis, this is a non-climbing, bushy, scrambling perennial.

Water deeply and consistently throughout the season. Stand by Me does not climb- it forms a loose, scrambling mound that can be allowed to tumble through other plants or supported with a cage. Cut back hard to the ground in late fall or early spring- it dies back as a perennial. Feed with a balanced fertilizer in spring and midsummer. The masses of small, nodding, deep purple-blue bells are produced over a long season from summer through fall. Largely pest-free and deer resistant.
