Water consistently after planting- summersweet prefers reliable moisture and tolerates wet conditions well. Little pruning is needed; remove dead or crossing branches in early spring. Fertilize lightly in spring with an acid fertilizer. Sugartina® is a very compact, refined summersweet selection with exceptionally fragrant, white flower spikes in midsummer that are outstanding for pollinators. The brilliant golden-yellow fall foliage adds a second season of interest. Largely pest-free and deer resistant.
