Pairs well with

Darling Clementine carries deep orange flowers with yellow tips on a plant that stays under a foot in every direction. Coreopsis Li'l Bang 'Darling Clementine' grows 8 to 10 inches tall and wide in full sun, hardy from Zone 5 through Zone 8.

The flowers are large relative to the plant and bloom continuously from early summer into fall without deadheading.

The habit is naturally compact and mounded, so it holds its shape without shearing and stays where you put it.

Coreopsis wants full sun and well-drained soil, and it handles drought and moderate road salt once established. Rich or wet ground shortens its life, and winter wet is the usual cause of failure. The size suits a container, a rock garden, or the front edge of a border. Deer leave it alone.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average, well-drained soil. Space 12–15 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly around the base. Coreopsis prefers lean to average soil- avoid overly rich or wet conditions.

Care Tips

Water regularly the first season; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Deadhead spent flowers consistently to maintain continuous bloom from early summer through fall. Cut back by about one-third after the main summer flush to tidy the plant and encourage renewed flowering. Divide every 2–3 years in spring. Very few pest or disease problems. A compact, well-behaved coreopsis that works beautifully at the front of a sunny border.
