Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Avoid rich or consistently wet soils, which promote floppy growth.

Water regularly the first season; very drought tolerant once established. Deadhead spent flowers- or shear the entire plant back by half after the main summer flush- to encourage continuous bloom and maintain a compact, tidy mound. Cut to the ground in late fall. Divide every 2–3 years in spring when the center begins to thin out. Very few pest or disease problems. The soft, pale yellow flowers and fine-textured, threadlike foliage create a delicate, airy effect in the garden for months.
