Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Space according to the mature size on the plant tag. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the trunk.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly the first 2–3 seasons; once established it is moderately drought tolerant. Little pruning is needed- cryptomeria holds a naturally attractive form. Remove any dead branches in early spring. Fertilize lightly in spring with an acid fertilizer. The soft, feathery, dark green foliage takes on attractive reddish-bronze tones in winter, adding seasonal interest. Largely pest- and disease-free. A graceful, refined conifer with year-round ornamental appeal.
