Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 12–15 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Good drainage- especially in winter- is the most critical site requirement. Avoid rich or consistently moist soils.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting, then reduce once established- Firewitch is notably drought tolerant once rooted in. Shear the plant back by about one-third immediately after the first bloom flush to keep it compact, tidy, and to encourage a second round of flowering. Feed very lightly with a balanced fertilizer in early spring. Avoid over-fertilizing, which leads to weak, short-lived growth. Deer resistant, largely pest-free, and very fragrant. One of the most dependable and longest-lived dianthus varieties available.
