Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 12–15 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Good drainage, especially in winter, is the most important site requirement.

Care Tips

Water after planting and reduce once established- dianthus prefers lean, drier conditions once rooted in. Shear back lightly after the first bloom flush to encourage continued flowering and keep the plant tidy. Fertilize lightly in spring. Avoid over-fertilizing or planting in rich soils. Deer resistant and largely pest-free. Fragrant blooms are a long-season highlight.
