Plant in moist to average, well-drained soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly around the base.

Water consistently after planting; once established it tolerates drought and dry shade remarkably well- one of its key strengths as a groundcover. Mow or shear the entire planting to 3–4 inches in early spring before new growth emerges to remove old, winter-worn foliage. This annual shearing keeps the planting fresh and tidy. Divide every 4–5 years in spring if desired. No fertilization generally needed. Largely pest-free. A tough, adaptable groundcover for shaded and partially shaded areas.
