Festiva Maxima Double Peony

Plant with the eyes (pink buds on the roots) no more than 1–2 inches below the soil surface- planting too deep is the most common reason peonies fail to bloom. Choose a permanent location in fertile, well-drained soil amended with compost. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Water regularly, especially during spring growth and bloom. Stake plants before stems become top-heavy. Deadhead spent flowers and remove all foliage in late fall to reduce botrytis blight. Do not cut foliage back until it has died down naturally. Fertilize lightly in spring and after flowering. Peonies are long-lived and resent being moved. Festiva Maxima is one of the most classic double white peonies, with large white flowers splashed with crimson and a wonderful fragrance.
