Planting Tips

Plant with the eyes no more than 1–2 inches below the soil surface in fertile, well-drained soil amended with compost. Choose a permanent location. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water regularly during spring growth and bloom. Stake plants before flower heads become top-heavy. Remove all foliage in late fall to reduce disease. Allow foliage to die back naturally before cutting back. Fertilize lightly in spring and after flowering. Kansas is a classic, vivid, magenta-crimson double peony with excellent fragrance. Like all peonies, it is extremely long-lived and becomes more spectacular with age. Do not expect a strong first-year bloom- patience is rewarded in subsequent seasons.
