Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist to wet, average to fertile soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Highly adaptable- also grows well in average garden soil with consistent moisture.

Care Tips

Water consistently- swamp milkweed prefers moist conditions but adapts well to average garden soil once established. Deadhead spent flower clusters to encourage continued bloom. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Largely pest-free except for occasional aphid colonies on new growth- beneficial insects typically manage these naturally. The rosy-pink flower clusters are excellent for monarch butterflies and all pollinators. An essential native plant for supporting monarch populations.
