Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Lean, dry conditions produce the best, most compact growth.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Pinch stem tips back in late spring to encourage a compact, well-branched plant. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Watch for aster yellows- distorted growth indicates infection; remove and discard affected plants. The silvery-blue foliage is aromatic when crushed and the lavender-blue flowers in fall are excellent for pollinators. A particularly refined and fragrant native aster selection.
