Planting Tips

Plant in average, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Blackberry lily is adaptable and thrives in average to lean conditions- avoid overly rich or wet soils.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued bloom, or allow the seed pods to develop- they split open to reveal clusters of shiny black seeds that resemble blackberries and are ornamentally interesting. Cut foliage back to the ground in late fall. Divide clumps every 3–4 years in spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. A unique and charming perennial with a long season of interest.
