Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist to wet soil. Tolerates clay and periodically flooded conditions. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water generously and consistently- this native sedge naturally grows along stream banks and in wet areas, and it thrives with reliable moisture. Trim or mow the planting back to a few inches in early spring to remove old foliage before fresh growth emerges. No fertilization needed. Divide clumps every 4–5 years if they become crowded. Essentially pest- and disease-free. An excellent choice for rain gardens, pond edges, and wet problem areas.
