Planting Tips

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. Set the crown 2–3 inches below the soil surface. Provide a sturdy trellis or support. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to keep the root zone cool.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently throughout the season. Check the plant tag for pruning group- most large-flowered clematis are Group 2. Prune lightly in late winter, removing only dead or weak stems. Feed with a balanced fertilizer in spring and again in midsummer. Watch for clematis wilt- cut back hard to healthy tissue at soil level if stems suddenly collapse. The large, beautifully colored flowers are produced in flushes from late spring through summer.
