Zagreb Tickseed

Plant in spring in average, well-drained soil, spacing 12–18 inches apart. Zagreb is a classic, reliable threadleaf tickseed with bright, golden-yellow flowers on fine, thread-like foliage. It is one of the toughest and most long-lived coreopsis varieties available. No special soil preparation is needed. Water regularly for the first few weeks, then reduce as the plant becomes established and drought tolerant.

Shear plants back by about one-half after the first main flush of bloom to encourage a fresh second crop of flowers for late summer and fall. Divide every three to four years in spring. No heavy fertilizing needed. Zagreb is notably more long-lived and cold-hardy than many hybrid tickseed varieties — a truly reliable perennial that performs consistently year after year with minimal attention. Classic, cheerful yellow color for sunny borders.
