Fern-like, blue-green foliage creates a soft texture that persists all season, unlike common varieties that go dormant in summer. Delicate, heart-shaped pink flowers dangle from arching stems, blooming repeatedly to brighten shady woodland gardens.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 15–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture.

Care Tips

Water consistently throughout the season- unlike the common bleeding heart, fringed bleeding heart does not go dormant in summer and blooms over a very long period from spring through fall in cool, moist conditions. Cut back spent stems as needed to encourage continued bloom. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Largely pest-free. The delicate, finely divided, ferny foliage and continuous production of heart-shaped flowers make this one of the most refined and long-blooming shade perennials available. An exceptional, underused plant.
