Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly.

Water consistently the first season; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Deadhead spent blooms or leave seed heads for birds. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Watch for aster yellows- remove and discard infected plants immediately. The vivid, warm orange flowers with a dark cone are bold and eye-catching- a classic warm-season color that pairs brilliantly with deep purples and bright yellows. Largely otherwise pest-free.
