Red Barrenwort

Plant in moist to dry, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Water regularly after planting; once established it handles dry shade remarkably well- making it one of the most useful and reliable groundcovers for challenging spots beneath trees. Cut old foliage to the ground in late winter before the delicate spring flowers emerge to fully appreciate the bloom display. Divide every 4–5 years in early spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant.
