Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist to wet, average to fertile soil. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch generously.

Care Tips

Water consistently and generously- queen of the prairie is a native wetland plant that thrives with reliable moisture and tolerates wet conditions very well. The tall, feathery plumes of deep rose-pink flowers in midsummer are spectacular. Stake tall stems in windy locations if needed. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. No fertilization generally needed in fertile, moist soil. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. One of the most dramatic and impressive native perennials for moist settings.
