Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained to dry soil in partial shade, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Bevan's Variety is a bigroot geranium with magenta-pink flowers in late spring and pleasantly aromatic foliage. Bigroot geraniums are among the most drought-tolerant shade perennials available — once established, they handle dry shade exceptionally well. Incorporate compost and water well at planting.

Care Tips

Cut back after the main bloom flush to encourage fresh foliage growth and possible rebloom. Once established, extremely drought tolerant and low maintenance. Divide every three to four years in spring. No heavy fertilizing needed. The aromatic foliage provides a pleasant scent and may deter deer. The semi-evergreen leaves take on attractive orange-red tones in fall. An outstanding, easy-care perennial for dry, shaded spots under established trees.
