Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly.

Water regularly, especially during the bloom period. Deadhead spent flowers to keep the planting tidy. Divide every 3–4 years in spring or fall when clumps become overcrowded. Fertilize in spring with a balanced fertilizer. Largely pest-free. The large, velvety, near-black to deep burgundy flowers are dramatically dark and intense- among the deepest-colored daylilies available. A bold, sophisticated choice for rich color contrasts in the summer border.
