Lemon Purrfection Catmint

Plant in spring, spacing 18–24 inches apart in average, well-drained soil. Catmint thrives in lean to average conditions — do not plant in rich, amended beds, as this causes floppy growth. Water regularly for the first few weeks after planting, then reduce significantly as the plant becomes drought tolerant. Good drainage is more important than soil richness for this plant.

After the first big bloom flush, shear plants back by about one-half to two-thirds — this is the key to keeping catmint looking great and producing a second and even third flush of flowers through the season. Without cutting back, plants become untidy and bloom quality diminishes. Very drought tolerant once established. A wonderful pollinator plant, particularly attractive to bees. No fertilizing is needed.
