Mouseketeer Hosta

Plant in spring or fall in moist, humus-rich soil in a shaded or partially shaded location. This is one of the smallest hostas available, making it perfect for edging shaded paths, filling small spots under trees, and planting in containers. Space plants 8–12 inches apart. Incorporate compost into the planting area and water well after planting. Mulch lightly to retain moisture.

Protect from slugs in spring when new growth first emerges — slug bait or diatomaceous earth applied around plants is effective. Despite its tiny size, Mouseketeer is a tough and reliable hosta. Cut foliage back to the ground in fall after frost. Top-dress with compost each spring. Divide every three to four years if clumps become overcrowded. No fertilizing is needed in organically rich soil.
