Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained to dry soil, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Junior Walker is a compact catmint with vibrant, deep blue flower spikes on a tidy, well-behaved mounding plant. It is smaller and more compact than Walker's Low but with similarly excellent garden performance. It thrives in lean, dry conditions — avoid rich or wet soils.

Care Tips

Cut plants back by about one-half after the first bloom flush to encourage a vigorous second bloom and maintain a compact, tidy mound. Very drought tolerant once established. No fertilizing needed in lean soils. The deep blue flower color and long bloom season make Junior Walker an outstanding perennial for sunny mixed borders. Compact habit makes it ideal for smaller spaces and the front of borders. Highly attractive to bees and butterflies.
