Madame Emile Debatene Peony

Plant in fall (ideally) or early spring in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, spacing 3–4 feet apart. Madame Emile Debatene is a classic, double-flowered pink peony with large, perfectly formed blooms in a rich, warm pink with a sweet fragrance. Plant with eyes no more than 1–2 inches below soil level — planting too deep prevents flowering. Incorporate compost generously.

Stake plants to support the large, heavy flowers. Remove spent blooms. Cut foliage to the ground in fall. Do not divide unless necessary — peonies dislike disturbance. Fertilize in early spring and after flowering. Water during dry spells. The large, double, fragrant pink flowers are a classic peony beauty.
