Planting Tips

Plant in well-drained, fertile soil amended with compost. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Oriental poppies go dormant in summer- plant companions nearby to fill the gap.

Care Tips

Water regularly during spring growth and bloom. After flowering and as the foliage yellows and dies back naturally in early summer, remove it and allow the plant to rest through the summer dormancy period. Do not remove foliage until it has died back fully. New foliage will re-emerge in fall. Divide clumps every 3–4 years in late summer during dormancy. Largely pest-free. The large, soft salmon-pink flowers with dark centers are extraordinary in late spring.
