Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, moist to dry, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Highly adaptable to clay and poor soils.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Mountain mint spreads by rhizomes- divide every 2–3 years in spring to control spread and maintain vigor. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. No fertilization needed. The aromatic foliage and tiny white flowers in midsummer are outstanding for a remarkably wide range of native pollinators- few native plants attract as many beneficial insects as mountain mint. Largely pest-free and deer resistant.
