Pairs well with

New to the ROCK 'N GROW® collection comes an upright Sedum with near black leaves. Enjoy the dark leaf foliage throughout the summer, and when late summer rolls around, flowers with deep garnet red centers and cream petals will appear. Great for adding a dark color to the middle of the border!

Tall, upright sedums form substantial clumps of foliage which can be substituted for shrubs in the landscape. Their stout, sturdy stems support the massive flower heads which develop in summer and burst into bloom in fall. If left standing, they provide winter interest and food for birds.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Excellent drainage is essential.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Cut back dead stems in early spring before new growth emerges. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. No fertilization needed. Largely pest-free. Back in Black has exceptionally dark, near-black foliage- among the deepest-colored stonecrop selections available. The dark leaves provide striking contrast even before the warm, rosy flower heads appear in late summer. The seed heads persist attractively through winter.
