Wine Festival Bearded Iris

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Space 12–18 inches apart. Plant the rhizome shallowly- the top should be at or just barely below the soil surface, exposed to sun.

Water regularly after planting. Once established, bearded iris is quite drought tolerant. Divide clumps every 3–4 years in mid-to-late summer. After dividing, replant with tops of rhizomes exposed. Watch for iris borer- remove and destroy affected rhizomes promptly. Remove foliage in late fall. Fertilize lightly in spring and after bloom. Wine Festival produces rich, wine-toned flowers in deep, festive, jewel-like colors- a celebration of deep burgundy-purple and violet tones worthy of the name.
