David Austin® Brother Cadfael® English Rose

Plant in spring or fall in fertile, well-drained soil, spacing 3–4 feet apart. Dig a generous planting hole, add compost to the backfill, and water deeply. Mulch around the base and ensure good air circulation around the plant. This is a robust, vigorous English rose that benefits from a little extra space to develop properly.

Prune in early spring, cutting healthy canes back by about one-third. Deadhead after each bloom flush to encourage repeat flowering. Fertilize monthly from spring through late summer. Brother Cadfael is notable for its enormous, deeply cupped pink flowers — among the largest in the David Austin collection — and its strong, classic old-rose fragrance. Water consistently at the base of the plant.
