Plant in spring or fall, spacing 3–4 feet apart in fertile, well-drained soil. Dig a generous planting hole, amend with compost, and water deeply. This rose can also be trained on a support as a short climber if desired. Mulch 2–3 inches deep and select a site with good air circulation to minimize disease.

Prune in early spring, removing dead wood and shaping healthy canes. Deadhead regularly to encourage the repeat blooming this variety is known for. Fertilize every four to six weeks during the growing season with a rose fertilizer. Claire Austin is notable for its pure white, deeply fragrant flowers and excellent disease resistance.
