Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall, spacing 4–5 feet apart in fertile, well-drained soil. James Galway can be grown as a large, arching shrub or trained on a fence or pillar as a short climber. Dig a wide, generous planting hole, amend with compost, and water deeply. Mulch well and provide support if training on a structure. Choose a site with good air circulation.

Care Tips

Prune in early spring, removing dead wood and reducing or tying in canes as appropriate for the growing situation. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage repeat flowering throughout the season. Fertilize every four to six weeks during the growing season. James Galway produces beautifully formed, warm pink blooms with a strong, classic old-rose fragrance and has excellent disease resistance.
