Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall near a sturdy support — a large fence, pergola, arbor, or substantial trellis. This is a vigorous rambling rose that will need plenty of room and reliable support. Dig a wide, deep planting hole, amend generously with compost, and water deeply. Mulch well around the base. Space at least 8–10 feet from other plants to allow for the canes' spread.

Care Tips

Prune after the main bloom period in summer — rambling roses bloom on old wood, so spring pruning removes that season's flower buds. Remove a few of the oldest canes to the base each year and tie in new growth to the support. The Lady of the Lake produces masses of small, blush-pink rosette blooms in a spectacular summer flush with a lovely musk fragrance. Very vigorous and disease resistant — a truly breathtaking rose in full bloom.
