Plant in well-drained, fertile soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the canes.

Water deeply and consistently throughout the season. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering. Prune in early spring, removing dead or weak canes and cutting back to healthy outward-facing buds. Fertilize with a rose fertilizer in spring and after each bloom flush. Avoid overhead watering to reduce disease. David Austin roses have good disease resistance compared to older English roses. The deeply cupped, rich crimson flowers are full, fragrant, and classically beautiful.
