Velvety dark red flowers with about 50 petals, three inches across, in full hybrid tea form on a shrub that stays under four feet. Rosa 'BAImir', sold as Easy Elegance® Kashmir, grows 3 to 4 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide in full sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 9.
New growth emerges a reddish purple before the leaf tops mature to clean green, so the plant carries two colors at once through the growing season.
Most of the Easy Elegance roses come from the renowned breeder Ping Lim, aimed at putting hybrid tea flower quality on a plant that survives a northern winter without a spray program. They grow on their own roots rather than grafted, so a plant killed back in a hard winter comes back as itself. Pruning is a cutback in early spring and nothing more.
The evenly rounded habit fits a tight urban planting, a foundation bed, or a low hedge along a path. The flowers cut well.
