Pairs well with

Popcorn Drift® Rose opens butter-yellow buds into creamy white double flowers carried in tight clusters, and the mix of both stages at once is where the name comes from. Rosa 'Novarospop' grows 1 to 2 feet tall and spreads 2 to 3 feet in full sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 11.

The flowers are about an inch and a half to two inches across and packed with roughly 25 petals, opening softly cupped so the golden stamens show. Bloom runs continuously from mid-spring to frost, and the yellow-to-white shift varies with temperature, so cool weather holds more yellow and heat pushes it toward cream.

Drift roses are a cross between full-size groundcover roses and miniature roses, bred to stay low and spread wide while blooming continuously. They were developed to fill the awkward spots: hillsides, narrow strips along a walk, the front edge of a bed, containers. All of them are self-cleaning, disease resistant, and need no deadheading.

No deadheading is needed. The flowers clean off on their own and the plant fills to the ground with glossy foliage. Disease resistance is high, so it holds clean foliage through humid summers with no spray program. Cut back by about a third in late winter. Shipped on its own roots.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Space 2–3 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the canes.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly the first season. No deadheading required for continuous bloom. Prune back by one-third in early spring. Fertilize with a balanced rose fertilizer in spring and midsummer. Excellent disease resistance. Monitor for black spot and aphids. The small, creamy-white, button-like flowers are produced in abundant clusters on a low, spreading plant from spring through frost- reminiscent of popcorn in their appearance. A charming, unique, and easy-care groundcover rose.
