Pairs well with

Large old-rose flowers in pink and white with about 40 petals, dense enough that the petals fold in on themselves rather than opening flat. Rosa 'Meiviolin', sold as Eden Climber®, climbs 10 to 12 feet in full sun, hardy from Zone 5 through Zone 10.

This is Star's best-selling climber and was named World's Best Rose by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 2006.

One thing to plan for: it can be slow to establish, taking a season or two before it settles in. After that it reblooms heavily and holds up to hard winters.

The foliage is dark green and glossy with strong disease resistance. Train the main canes as close to horizontal as the structure allows, since that is what pushes flowering laterals along the whole length.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in well-drained, fertile soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Provide a very sturdy trellis, fence, or pergola. Space 8–10 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the canes.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly throughout the season. Train new canes horizontally on the support structure for maximum blooming along each cane. Prune in early spring to remove dead or damaged canes and lightly shape. Deadhead spent blooms for repeat flowering. Fertilize with a rose fertilizer in spring and midsummer. Good disease resistance. The large, cupped, old-rose style blooms are produced in generous flushes. One of the most elegant and widely loved climbing roses available.
