Pure white cuplike flowers with about 25 petals cover this shrub continuously from spring to frost, dense enough that the plant reads as a drift of snow. Rosa 'Meiradena', sold as Icecap™, PP 26,790, grows about 2.5 feet tall and 3.5 feet wide in full sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 9.
Black spot resistance is the trait this one was selected for, and it has taken four awards for garden performance: American Garden Rose Selections, Rose Hills, A.R.T.S., and a UC Davis Blue Ribbon for low water use.
The flowers are open enough for bees to reach the pollen, and Star lists it as a plant for pollinators. The scent is very slight, so choose it for the bloom rather than the fragrance.
The habit spreads wider than tall, which suits a low hedge, a mass planting, or a bank. Zone 4 hardiness is unusual in a white landscape rose. Cut back by about a third in early spring to keep it dense.
