Pairs well with

Large flowers open bright yellow and fade through deep pink to cherry red, so a plant in bloom carries the full range at once. Rosa 'Meisistoma', sold as Sunset Horizon™, PP 31,682, grows 3 to 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide in full sun, hardy from Zone 5 through Zone 10.

The flowers carry about 15 petals, so they open wide and flat rather than staying tight, and they are notably large when fully open.

The color change happens on individual flowers rather than between them, which is what creates the fiery effect on a single bush. Bees can reach the open centers, and Star lists it as a plant for pollinators.

It has taken three awards: American Garden Rose Selections, A.R.T.S., and Portland's Best Rose. Disease resistance is excellent. The scent is very slight.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in well-drained, fertile soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the canes.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly throughout the season. Deadhead spent blooms for continuous flowering. Prune in early spring to remove dead or weak canes. Fertilize with a rose fertilizer in spring and after each bloom flush. Good disease resistance. Monitor for black spot and aphids. The flowers blend warm sunset tones- apricot, coral, and gold- that shift in color as they age, creating a dynamic, multi-toned display throughout the season.
