Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 12-15 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Good drainage is essential- alliums dislike wet soil.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Deadhead spent flower heads to prevent self-seeding, or leave them for ornamental interest- the dried seed heads are attractive through fall. The foliage may begin to die back by midsummer, which is normal; plant perennials nearby to fill the gap. Cut back foliage after it yellows naturally. Fertilize lightly in spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. Millennium is an outstanding ornamental onion- the vivid, rosy-purple, globe-shaped flower heads are produced over an exceptionally long bloom season and are outstanding for pollinators, especially bees. Unlike most alliums, the foliage remains attractive through the bloom period.
