Planting Tips

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. Set the crown 2–3 inches below the soil surface. Provide a trellis or support. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to keep the root zone cool.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently throughout the season. Check the plant tag for pruning group. Feed with a balanced fertilizer in spring after pruning and again in midsummer. Watch for clematis wilt- cut back to healthy tissue at soil level if stems collapse suddenly. The deep, velvety purple flowers with a contrasting center boss are richly colored and produced over a long season on this compact, well-behaved clematis.
