Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in well-drained soil, spacing 4–5 feet apart. Pink flowering almond is a tough, cold-hardy shrub that produces masses of double, rosy-pink flowers directly on the bare stems in very early spring — often one of the first shrubs to bloom of the season. It adapts to average to dry soils without special preparation. Water well at planting.

Care Tips

Prune right after flowering — this shrub blooms on old wood, so pruning at the wrong time removes next year's blooms. An annual pruning right after bloom keeps the plant vigorous and well-branched. The abundant, fluffy pink flowers in early spring are an outstanding harbinger of the season. Very cold-hardy and adaptable. No regular fertilizing is needed.
