Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained to dry soil. Highly adaptable to sandy and coastal soils. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is highly drought tolerant and exceptionally salt and coastal tolerant. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. No fertilization needed. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. Unlike some goldenrods, seaside goldenrod stays compact and does not spread aggressively, making it a well-behaved choice for borders near the coast. The golden flower plumes in late summer are excellent for late-season pollinators.
